A review of drug and medical device studies found that studies paid for by companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries were more likely to come to conclusions that were more profitable for those companies, than studies that were funded by non-industry sources were. The suggested pro-industry bias in the industry-funded studies is extremely troubling when you consider that there is less public funding for non-industry funded scientific research these days.
